News letter #2

We would, first of all, like to thank everyone that still continues to support the women in Gishambusha by giving us advise or contributing to the organization’s funds. It is an immense help! A friend made a great logo for us. The logo is on top of this web site. Thank you, Jens.

Since the last news letter, the women have established an bank account in Burundi. In the future, they will insert shares of the profit from the harvest in the bank account. The funds will be used only when one of the women comes in an unfortunate situation, e.g medical care.

The women still meet twice a week to farm together. This season the women have cultivated beans that they will harvest in July. The entrepreneur spirit is settling in the group. We are really glad for this.

Since last time, we have constructed a proper lavatory for the women. We want the land to be a place with good hygiene for the women.

The goal from the begging has been to buy a cattle, so that the women can sell milk in the local community. The women have therefore cultivated grass for the cow and are now preparing to buy a cattle in July.

We would like to remind everyone that change starts with small steps. We are seeing the small steps! Once again, thanks for supporting us and we hope that you will continue to follow us.
