Project in Gishambusha
Our first project is based in Gishambusha in Muyinga, which is a province in the north of Burundi.
We have selected five women to our pilot project and provided them land where they can cultivate two days a week. In Burundi, land is a scare asset. Often big families have to share few acres of land. By providing the women with land, they can cultivate, harvest and sell the surplus of production. The long-term goal is to buy cows for the women.
The summer of 2013 we had the first meeting with the presence of Foundation Stamm in Burundi. The foundation held an interactive course about the challenges and opportunities in agriculture.
The following four pictures show four of the five women in this project.
The women are now cultivating beans, maize and potatoes. We are in our start face and are depended on your help to continue the so far successful project.
